The system to recharge the account of mobile phones by means of a credit card developed for Swisscom

The system enables the user of a mobile phone with a SIM card of a prepaid type to recharge their mobile phone account by means of a credit card. The system comprises a user registration module in authorised services, a module which communicates with the operator's telecommunication equipment of (receiving calls, receiving SMSs, sending SMSs and USSDs, authorising calling numbers, updating the account), and a module of communication with the centres of credit card authorisation. The system has been written in the C language. We have used some mechanisms of communication between the modules. The system uses databases of Oracle operating on the SUN Solaris servers. Constant, perfect operation of this system is a critical requirement. The start of the system was preceded by a phase of complete tests (all possible failure scenarios). The above mentioned modules are the elements of a big system called SICAP. This has been used in many European counties. Simplus of Plus GSM has implemented on this system.

Data of the system are gathered on the Oracle database server installed on the Sun Solaris platform. It in an intranet system. Perl has been used as a generator of WWW pages. WWW pages are supported by numerous advanced functions done by the client and implemented in JavaScript. The system is used by internal and external consultants of the Swiss company to investigate and settle work progress in the information technology projects.
